The Arboretum and Botanical Garden at Cal State Fullerton serves as a community resource, blending education, conservation, and enjoyment within a diverse landscape of plant collections. To improve visitor experience and enhance our educational mission, we aim to update and expand signage across the grounds. This project will add modernized, informative, and aesthetically pleasing signs that guide, educate, and engage our visitors.
Sign Enhancement Project
As our collections grow and our programming evolves, updated signage will help us provide a clear, cohesive experience that connects visitors with plant information, garden highlights, and environmental education. Clear, interpretive, and visually appealing signage will also support wayfinding, increase the visitor experience, and deepen the understanding of our conservation.
Giving Opportunities
We invite donors to contribute to this initiative by selecting from the following giving levels, each associated with a unique and essential part of our signage enhancement plan:
Entrance Map & Storytelling Panel – $50,000 (Funded)
The Entrance Map and Storytelling panels are a visitor’s first point of contact with the Arboretum. This sponsorship will cover the design and installation of prominent and welcoming signage inside the Arboretum, including a map of the Arboretum and interpretive panels telling our history, the relevance of our collections, conservation information about the need to protect plants in the wild, all to help the visitor better understand the role of arboreta in global plant conservation.
Collection Signs – $25,000 each
Our four main collections represent a vital part of our conservation and educational mission. Contributions at this level will support a unified signage design for each of our main collections (Desert, Mediterranean, Woodlands and Cultivated).
Donor Wall Sign – $10,000 (Funded)
The Donor Wall sign will be prominently located and offer the opportunity for individual and corporate donors to be recognized, honoring those who have made significant annual and estate contributions to the Arboretum’s growth and enhancement.
Interpretive Signs – $5,000
Interpretive signs provide in-depth information about plants, ecosystems, and sustainability topics. Donors at this level enable us to create educational signs that engage visitors with meaningful environmental information.
Way-finding Signs – $2,500
Way-finding signs ensure visitors can easily navigate the Arboretum’s paths and areas of interest. Contributions at this level will support the placement of directional signage to improve accessibility and visitor flow.
Plant Highlight Signs – $1,000
The Plant Highlight signs will feature individual plants of special interest, providing visitors with background on unique species and their ecological importance. Donors at this level can directly support plant-specific signage.
Recognition and Benefits
Donors will be recognized with inscriptions on their sponsored signs or listed on the Donor Wall, with gratitude for their role in enhancing the Arboretum. Larger gifts will receive added acknowledgments, including special invitations to events and tours with our horticulture staff. Naming’s will exist for the life of the sign.
Impact
The Sign Enhancement Project will transform the visitor experience, fostering a deeper connection to nature and conservation. Updated signage will ensure the Arboretum remains an accessible, educational, and enriching resource for the university and the broader community.
We invite you to help us create a legacy of learning, conservation, and community engagement through the Arboretum and Botanical Garden at Cal State Fullerton Sign Enhancement Project. Thank you for your consideration and support!
